Chemical Peel Aftercare Instructions
Congratulations on completing your chemical peel treatment! To ensure the best results and support your skin’s healing process, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully:
Immediate Aftercare (First 24-48 Hours)
- Avoid Makeup
Your skin needs time to heal, so avoid applying makeup for at least 24-48 hours after your chemical peel. When you do start using makeup again, opt for gentle, non-comedogenic products.
- Avoid Sweating or Intense Exercise
For the first 48-72 hours, avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, such as exercise, saunas, or hot yoga. Sweat can irritate the treated skin and interfere with the healing process.
- Be Gentle with Your Skin
Cleanse your skin with a mild, non-irritating cleanser (your provided gentle cleanser is perfect!) and lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, steam, or harsh rubbing of the treated area. You may use your hydrating cream liberally when your skin feels dry or tight.
- Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Proper hydration supports your skin’s recovery and helps maintain the results of your peel.
Short-Term Care (First Week After Peel)
- Avoid Sun Exposure
Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible for at least 1 week. If you must be outdoors, always wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and reapply regularly, while always wearing a hat and sunglasses for optimal protection.
- Do Not Pick or Peel
Your skin may begin to peel as part of the natural exfoliation process. Do not pick or pull at the peeling skin, as this can cause irritation or scarring. Let your skin shed naturally. You may trim larger shedding areas with small nail scissors if you would like.
- Avoid Exfoliation
Do not use any exfoliating products, scrubs, or harsh cleansers for at least 5-7 days after your chemical peel. Allow your skin to recover fully before reintroducing these products into your routine.
- Keep Your Skin Hydrated
Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to your skin several times a day to help soothe dryness and support the healing process. Avoid products with strong fragrances or active ingredients, such as retinoids or exfoliants, until your skin has fully healed.
Long-Term Care (1-2 Weeks Post-Peel)
- Skip Harsh Treatments
Avoid any other facial treatments, including waxing, laser treatments, or other physical or chemical exfoliants, for at least 1-2 weeks post-peel, depending on your provider’s recommendations.
- Be Patient with Results
While you may notice some immediate improvements, it can take several days to a week for your skin to fully reveal the effects of the peel. Continue following your aftercare routine for optimal long-term results.
