Pre-Appointment Instructions for Chemical Peels
To ensure optimal results and a smooth experience with Skin Clique, please review the following instructions prior to your chemical peel appointment:
- Discontinue Use of Exfoliating Products
Stop using any exfoliating products, including retinoids (like Retin-A), AHAs, BHAs, and any harsh scrubs, 5-7 days before your appointment. These products can increase skin sensitivity during the peel.
- Avoid Sun Exposure
Limit sun exposure and avoid tanning (including self-tanning products) for at least one week before your peel. If you must be outdoors, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and reapply every two hours.
- Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin well-hydrated and to support the healing process post-peel.
- Avoid Waxing or Hair Removal Treatments
Refrain from waxing, threading, or using depilatory creams on the treatment area for at least 7 days before your appointment. These treatments can irritate the skin and affect your peel results.
- Prepare Your Space
Ensure that your treatment area is clean, well-lit, and has a flat surface (such as a countertop or table) for the provider to place their equipment. No pets should be in the room during your treatment to maintain a sterile environment.
- Consult with Your Provider
If you have any medical conditions, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking any medications that may affect your treatment, please inform your provider before the appointment.
- Arrive Without Makeup
On the day of your appointment, please arrive with a clean face, free from makeup, moisturizer, or sunscreen to ensure the best results. Your provider will also clean your face prior to the procedure.
- Discontinue Use of Acne Medications
Avoid using acne medications like Accutane for at least 6 months before the peel, unless otherwise directed by your provider.
- Plan for Potential Peeling
Post-treatment peeling is common, and the duration will vary based on the strength of the peel. Plan your appointment accordingly, allowing 7-10 days for any peeling or flaking to subside.
- Be Prepared for Aftercare
Your Skin Clique provider will give you specific post-peel care instructions to follow. Avoid picking or peeling any skin, and apply a gentle moisturizer as instructed to aid in healing.
By following these guidelines, you'll help ensure the best possible experience and results from your chemical peel treatment with Skin Clique. If you have any questions or concerns before your appointment, feel free to contact your provider.
