What You Need to Know Before Your Microneedling Appointment

Thank you for scheduling your microneedling treatment with Skin Clique! To ensure the best results and a smooth experience, please review the following pre-appointment guidelines.

Complete Pre-Appointment Forms

Before your appointment, make sure to complete all necessary pre-appointment forms online. These forms allow your provider to better understand your medical history, skin concerns, and treatment goals. You will receive a link via email—please complete them at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Avoid Certain Medications and Supplements

To minimize the risk of bruising, avoid taking blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and St. John’s Wort for at least 5-7 days before your appointment. If you’re on prescription medications, consult your provider before making any changes.

Avoid Retinoids and Exfoliants

Stop using any retinoids, exfoliating products, or other skincare treatments that may cause skin sensitivity at least 5 days prior to your microneedling appointment. This helps ensure your skin is in the best condition for treatment.

Skip Alcohol

Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as it can increase the risk of bruising and sensitivity.

Hydrate Your Skin

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Hydrated skin responds better to microneedling and helps achieve optimal results.

Prepare Your Space for Your Provider

Since our providers come to you, please prepare a clean, well-lit space in your home. Your provider will need a flat surface, like a table or kitchen counter, to set up their equipment. For safety and comfort, please keep pets in a separate room during your treatment.

Arrive with Clean Skin

Make sure your skin is clean and free of makeup, lotions, or creams on the day of your appointment. This helps minimize the risk of infection and prepares your skin for the procedure.

Communicate Any Medical Conditions

Let your provider know if you’ve had any recent skin infections, surgeries, or other medical conditions that may impact your treatment. It’s especially important to inform your provider if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, as microneedling may not be recommended.

Plan Around Major Events

While there is little downtime with microneedling, you may experience some redness and mild swelling after the treatment. It’s best to schedule your appointment at least 1 week before any important events to allow your skin time to heal and recover.

Post-Treatment Expectations

After microneedling, you may experience mild redness, swelling, and sensitivity, similar to a sunburn. We’ll provide detailed post-care instructions to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.
