What to Know Before Your Tox Appointment
Thank you for scheduling your tox treatment with Skin Clique! To help you prepare and ensure the best experience, here are a few things to keep in mind before your appointment:
Complete Important Paperwork
Before your appointment, please make sure to complete all necessary pre-appointment forms online. These forms are essential to help your Skin Clique provider understand your medical history, treatment goals, and any specific concerns you may have. Completing them ahead of time ensures a smooth and efficient appointment, allowing your provider to focus on delivering the best possible care. You will receive a link to the forms via email—please be sure to fill them out at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
Avoid Blood Thinners and Certain Medications
To minimize the risk of bruising, avoid taking blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and St. John’s Wort for at least 5-7 days before your appointment. Always consult with your provider if you are on any prescription medications before making changes.
Skip Alcohol
Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as it can increase the likelihood of bruising.
Clean Skin Is Key
Arrive at your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup, lotions, or creams. This helps ensure the treatment area is prepped and reduces the risk of infection.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your treatment. Hydrated skin may improve the overall outcome of the procedure.
Prepare a Space for Your Provider
Since our providers come to you, please prepare a space in your home for your treatment. Your provider will need a flat surface, like a table or kitchen counter, to set up. For safety, we also require that any pets be kept in a separate room during the treatment.
Plan Around Major Events
While tox treatments typically have little downtime, you may experience minor swelling or bruising. If you have a big event coming up, it’s recommended to schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to allow time for any side effects to subside.
Prepare for Multiple Appointments (If Needed)
For best results, tox treatments may require a follow-up appointment for touch-ups or maintenance. Discuss with your provider how frequently you may need future treatments to achieve and maintain your desired look.
What to Expect During the Appointment
Your appointment will last around 15-30 minutes, and discomfort is typically minimal. Your provider will assess your facial muscles and inject small amounts of the product into targeted areas to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. Most patients report feeling only slight pinches or pressure during the procedure.
Post-Appointment Considerations
While we’ll go over full post-care instructions after your treatment, keep in mind that you should avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and laying down for 4-6 hours after your appointment to prevent the product from migrating.
If you have any questions before your appointment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your provider directly. We’re looking forward to seeing you and helping you achieve your aesthetic goals!
